From “Gardens of Childhood” in Through the Garden Gate by Elizabeth Lawrence:
“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again. And in later years a familiar scent brings it to mind.”
Hello!
Since I used up a wad of words in my previous post (see Blue Morning Glory, Yellow Daffodils, and Images of War), this post will be mostly just pictures. Phew!
From a set of unprocessed March daffodil photos, I picked out a few that were backlit (or side-lit), posed and processed as I described last fall in Autumn Leaves / Autumn Light, the last five re-processed on black backgrounds. A little alien in a helmet swooped in and attached itself to the daffodil in the first two photos while I was shooting; aliens, apparently, like to hug daffodils. Who knew??
Thanks for taking a look!
I didn’t know that aliens liked to hug daffodils. 😉 Who can blame them? Those daffodils are so lovely.
In my head they do! Sort of like how my dog rakes leaves and folds laundry. For some reason, no one ever believes me though…. 🙂
Beautiful. They are my favorite. We always called them Easter flowers because they bloom at Easter time.
Thanks, I like them too. I have another large batch of photos, several different varieties, that I’ll finish up and start posting next week. Some are pure white with ruffled petals (I need to find their real names), and they’re pretty fabulous.
Thanks for the comment!
I will look forward to seeing those.
Daffodils look their best with backlighting. 🙂
They do, don’t they! I feel like I never noticed it before, but their petals seem to let just the right amount of light through so they look like they glow.
Thanks for the comment!
Nice composition.
Thank you, and thanks for leaving a comment!
